NEW Casual Cook Opportunities in Dalkeith – *Sociable Hours*

An ideal role for someone who takes pride in home cooking and baking. We are looking for the right people to serve traditional home cooked meals to our service users with the added bonus of great working hours and no late shifts!

This is a fulfilling role where the health and nutrition of older people is paramount, so you will prepare meals and snacks that are high quality, tasty and nourishing within our Retirement Housing with Meals service, Whitehill Lodge (Dalkeith). The successful candidate will have the opportunity to showcase creativity with meals whilst consulting with tenants to ensure individual dietary needs are met.

Casual Cooks support cover requirements for planned and emergency leave. This would be a great opportunity for someone who would like to have more flexibility around their working arrangements and/or gain experience in social care.

Who We Are and Role Requirements

Bield is one of the largest providers of housing and support services to older people in Scotland and everyone plays an important role in making sure that our services improve the lives of older people in Scotland.

You will ensure that all food hygiene and health and safety standards set by Bield and external regulators are met. You must have experience of delivering a high standard of meal service with an understanding of nutritional and dietary requirements of older people. An intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate or equivalent is desirable. There are also opportunities to join our bank of casual workers.

Benefits of working with Bield as a casual worker

- £9.50/hr pay

- Flexible working hours including evenings and weekends

- No obligation to accept shifts (easy to fit in with personal commitments)

- Valuable practical work experience in the social and healthcare sector

- Bield will pay 50% of the cost of your Disclosure check

Shifts will be offered on a casual basis to cover planned and emergency leave. Ability to accept shifts at short notice would be desirable, however not essential.
