Blackwood are currently looking for a part-time Support Worker to join our Edinburgh Supported Living Team.

Our service based in the Roseburn area of Edinburgh, supports customers within the shared service team. Your day will involve delivering a wide variety of assistance such as personal care & hygiene, moving and handling, social support, housework, cleaning/laundry, meal preparation, medication assistance, going to appointments and being responsive to both planned and ad-hoc customer care needs.


As we operate during the day and overnight, we are looking for the successful candidate to be adaptive and flexible to support the team and needs of our customers.


As a Support Worker and to enable our customers to live comfortably, safely and independently, you will work closely with our managers and teams and support our customers with some of the following examples of personal care services:


o Personal hygiene (bathing, showering, shaving, oral hygiene)

o Continence management (toileting, catheter care)

o Food and diet (assisting with eating and preparation)

o Simple treatments (medication assistance application of creams)

o Personal assistance (with wheelchairs, mechanical/manual aids and help with dressing & getting in/out of bed)

o Immobility problems


Don’t worry about having any previous care experience, we provide comprehensive training and development opportunities to help you become a great carer although previous experience is desirable.

The ideal candidate must have:

o A commitment to delivering high quality care

o Strong communication and interpersonal skills as our carers might be the only contact our customers have each day

o Basic IT skills, ability to use apps and devices to support service provision

o An ability to work independently in the community and as part of a team

o A relevant qualification (SVQ2), this is not essential as training will be given

o Flexibility to work on a rota basis including early mornings, evenings and weekends
