We are looking for female* Support Workers to join our team in Govan, Glasgow. We have two permanent contracts available for between 24 to 36 hours per week.

The Role

You will be joining a team of Support Workers providing twenty-four-hour support to a young woman who is registered blind and has a learning disability and cerebral palsy.

As a Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in assisting the person we support with all aspects of daily living, including cooking, personal care, meal preparation, administering medication and the management of personal finances. You will accompany her on any outings, including when attending health appointments, and support her to pursue her interests and hobbies. She really enjoys being outside, going bowling and visiting the cinema, attends hydrotherapy and would also like support to find a volunteering opportunity. As a team, it is our aim to enable the person we support to live a fulfilling and valued life, where they can achieve their own personal goals and aspirations.

About You

Through open, honest communication, the person we support is looking to build strong, trusting relationships with her support team where she is kept up to date with changes and empowered to be involved in making decisions. It’s also very important to her that you are reliable and have good timekeeping.

The person we support loves getting out and about, so it would be preferable if you hold a full, clean UK driving licence, but this is not essential.

To be a great Support Worker, you will be:

  • a warm, friendly personality with a positive, can-do attitude
  • confident and chatty, and able to demonstrate great communication skills,
  • proactive, resourceful and creative in finding and organising activities
  • able to build and maintain positive, respectful relationships with different people
  • competent in the use of technology to enhance the support you provide
  • flexible to meet the needs of the person we support

We are looking for people with a real passion to build relationships and positively impact the lives of the people we support. So, whilst it would be beneficial if you have experience in a similar role, this is not essential. What’s most important to us is that you can demonstrate the right values and attitude to make a difference. You’ll receive all the training and support you need through our award-winning Training Academy, including the opportunity to complete a fully funded SVQ qualification.

Shift Patterns

Our team provides support twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. If you’re successful in joining our team, you will be expected to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, public holidays and waking nights as part of your rota.

The shift pattern will include a combination of long day shifts, from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm, and waking nights from 8.00 pm to 8.00 am. Waking nights are paid at your normal hourly rate, plus an agreed standard waking night payment of £20 per night.

* For this position, female is an Occupational Requirement as defined by the Equality Act 2010.

Do you have any questions? To find out more, please contact Jayne Moore on 0141 551 8954.

If you’re successful in joining our team, you will be expected to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and must be willing to work towards a SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare as required for SSSC registration. We will need you to register with the SSSC within 6 months of starting your employment with us.
