Are you interested in the relationship between language and behaviour and want to make a positive difference?

Cornerstone has a great opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our Quality Improvement team for 14.5 hours per week. The hours can be worked flexibly to suit your needs. The role will be predominantly home-based, with some travel to our Glasgow office required.

The Role

As Speech and Language Therapist, you’ll play an instrumental role in our new Strategy supporting our Training Academy and Inclusion work.

We’ve secured funding initially for 12 months for the Speech and Language Therapist to:

  • Devise and support the implementation of a communication strategy.
  • Work primarily with our Training Academy to develop in-house resources to be rolled out to improve colleagues’ competency and knowledge.
  • Work with the Quality Improvement Team to add value to care and support plans, particularly around communication and behavioural support needs.
  • Work with our Marketing and Communications colleagues to support the development of our easy read and alternative format documents.

About You

You’ll demonstrate exceptional knowledge of communication tools, especially for people who communicate with signs and symbols, such as BoardMaker and Makaton. You’ll use your knowledge, alongside excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to lead and inspire colleagues to deliver the highest quality of care and support. Collaborating with our Training Academy, we’ll need you to be creative in developing a suite of resources designed to ensure our colleagues have a consistent baseline of knowledge of how to communicate effectively with people with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs.

This role has been funded by the Scottish Government Adapt and Thrive Programme initially for 12 months so there’s an opportunity for the project to be treated as a secondment. We hope to secure additional funding to extend the post beyond the initial 12 months.

If you’re shortlisted for this post, you will be invited for interview on either Thursday 11 or Friday 12 November 2021. All interviews will take place online via video chat.
