We are looking for a Support Worker to join our team in Bishopbriggs for 25 hours per week.

The Role

You will be joining a small, dedicated team of Support Workers providing support to three active, and sociable gentlemen who live together in Bishopbriggs. The people we support have learning disabilities and other complex support needs.

As a Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in supporting the gentlemen with all aspects of daily living, including cooking, personal care, meal preparation, administering medication and managing their personal finances. You will support them to do the things they want to do out in the community and accompany them on any outings, including when attending health appointments, and be enthusiastic about participating in and supporting with their hobbies and interests. The gentlemen we support like to get out every day and receive support 1:1 each day to do so. They enjoy going for walks, listening to music and going to the cinema.

Our aim is to enable the people we support to live a fulfilling and valued life, where they can achieve their own personal goals and aspirations. You will take an active role in the planning and delivery of person-centered care and encourage the people we support to express their views and wishes.

About You

We are looking for people with a real passion to build relationships and positively impact the lives of the people we support. So, whilst it would be beneficial if you have experience in a similar role, this is not essential. What’s most important to us is that you can demonstrate the right values and attitude to make a difference. You’ll receive all the training and support you need through our award-winning Training Academy, including the opportunity to complete a fully funded SVQ qualification.

To be a great Support Worker, you will be:

  • a genuine, caring nature with a positive, can-do attitude
  • able to demonstrate exceptional communication skills, including active listening
  • committed to improving the lives of the people we support
  • able to build and maintain positive, respectful relationships with different people, including other agencies and health professionals involved in care
  • competent in the use of technology to enhance the support you provide
  • reliable and flexible to meet the needs of the people we support

The gentlemen have access to a mobility car at the service, so it would be preferable if you hold a full, clean UK driving licence, but this is not essential.

Shift Patterns

Our team provides support twenty-four-hours a day, seven days a week. So, if you’re successful in joining our team, you will be expected to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, sleepovers and public holidays as part of your rota. Sleepovers are not included in your contracted hours and you’ll receive an additional sleepover payment of £76.00 per night.

If you’re contracted to work 25 hours per week, you’re likely to work at least two sleepovers a month. This means you’d earn £14,174.00 per annum, or £1,181.17 per month.

Do you have any questions? To find out more, please contact Kenny Cunningham on 0751 026 9035.

If you’re successful in joining our team, you will be expected to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and must be willing to work towards a SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare as required for SSSC registration. We will need you to register with the SSSC within 6 months of starting your employment with us
