Support Worker

We are looking for a Support Worker to join our team in East Dunbartonshire for 39 hours per week. You’ll be joining a small, established team supporting four individuals in a small village near Milngavie.

The Role

Our teams support adults with learning disabilities, autism and other complex support needs. As a Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in supporting these individuals with all aspects of daily living, including cooking, personal care, meal preparation, administering medication and the management of personal finances. You will support them to do the things they want to do out in the community and accompany them on any outings, including when attending health appointments. The people we support enjoy swimming, cycling, shopping, visiting cafes and adventures in the car. You will take an active role in the planning and delivery of person-centered care to enable the people we support to live fulfilling and valued lives, where they can achieve their own personal goals and aspirations.

About You

We are looking for people with a real passion to build relationships and positively impact the lives of the people we support. So, whilst it would be beneficial if you have experience in a similar role, this is not essential. What’s most important to us is that you can demonstrate the right values and attitude to make a difference. You’ll receive all the training and support you need through our award-winning Training Academy, including the opportunity to complete a fully funded SVQ qualification.

To be a great Support Worker, you will be:

• a naturally empathetic person with a warm, friendly personality
• able to demonstrate exceptional communication skills and set clear boundaries
• able to build and maintain positive, respectful relationships different people
• adaptable, confident when lone working and able to use your initiative
• competent in the use of technology to enhance the support you provide, e.g. Microsoft Office and Outlook
• reliable, flexible and responsive to meet the changing needs of the people we support

The people we support use their own mobility cars so, it is essential that you hold a full UK driving licence to help them get out and about and do the things they enjoy.

Shift Patterns

The hours of support vary depending on the needs of the service, but may include weekends, early mornings, late evenings, waking nights and sleepovers. For sleepovers, you’ll receive an additional sleepover payment of between £76.00 to £95.00 per night, depending on the needs of the service and waking nights are paid at your normal hourly rate plus an additional £20.00 per night.

If you’re successful in joining our team, you will be expected to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and must be willing to work towards a SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare as required for SSSC registration. We will need you to register with the SSSC within 6 months of starting your employment with us.
