The Service
Hillcrest Futures Student Support Service offers support to students studying at Dundee and Angus College, Dundee University, Abertay University, Perth College and Highland and Islands University (Perth Campus).
We offer additional assistance to students with learning disabilities, mental health issues, physical disabilities and individuals on the autistic spectrum. Our service enables students in their learning process to achieve their full potential by providing a person centred and tailored support service to suit the individual support needs of students.
The service is accredited with the National Autistic Society.
The Role
As a Senior Support Worker, you will:
- Support students to get to college
- Provide support in classes with tasks such as scribing, breaking down tasks to aid understanding, time management and study planning and personal care
- Provide reassurance to students who are anxious
- Complete and maintain the necessary paperwork relevant to the students and will be expected to perform a keyworker role
- Mentor team members, providing leadership, encouraging best practice and team development
- Develop rotas and actively monitor and manage staff and student movements to ensure adequate support is in place for students
You Will
- Have good communication and leadership skills
- Have a positive attitude to supporting the development of the team
- Be highly motivated and flexible in relation to all aspects of your role.
- You should possess an SVQ3 in Health and Social Care, or have the ability to undertake study to achieve this.
Please note: The Senior Support Worker post may be appointed on either a term time only basis working 34 weeks of the year, or, on a full term basis, working 52 weeks of the year. This will be discussed further at interview.
