Around since 1923, SAMH is Scotland’s national mental health charity. SAMH has represented the voice of people most affected by mental health problems in Scotland for more than 90 years. Today, in over 60 communities we work with adults and young people providing mental health social care support, services in primary care, schools and further education, among others. These services together with our national programme work in See Me, respectme, suicide prevention and active living; inform our policy and campaign work to influence positive social change. SAMH is dedicated to mental health and wellbeing for all: with a vision of a society where people are able to live their lives fully, regardless of present or past circumstances.
For Scotland’s Mental Health
Distress Brief Intervention (DBI) is a two tiered response approach incorporating Level 1 responses from frontline partnership agencies (A&E, Primary Care, Police Scotland & Scottish Ambulance Service) and Level 2 supportive interventions which are delivered by SAMH. Within 24 hours of receiving a referral SAMH’s trained staff will respond will provide compassionate community problem solving support, wellness and distress management planning, supported connections and signposting for a period of up to 14 days to people aged 16 and over who are in distress.
DBI PRACTITIONER (Ref: N942)
£21,634 (pro rata based on 37.5 full time role), 35 hours per week
The DBI Practitioner is an exciting and challenging post which makes a real difference to peoples lives. You will use your great communication skills and mature attitude to support people to achieve their identified outcomes. Previous experience and knowledge of supporting people with their mental health would be desirable. Our core hours are between 10am-6pm but there may be times when you will need to be flexible and work shifts, evenings and weekends. At the moment we operate a blended support model which includes face to face and remote working from home, and you will need access to your own transport as travel across the Scottish Borders is required.
