Female* Personal Assistant (Support Worker)

Job Purpose

Our Personal Assistants support people to lead full, active and socially connected lives, supporting people to achieve the things that matter to them.

Applicants should have, or be willing to work towards, a qualification meeting the standards required for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).

Job Details

We are looking for a female* Personal Assistant to join an existing team to support a young lady in her home in Grange, Edinburgh. This position is for 9 hours, and currently one day per week between Monday and Friday.

• L is a young autistic lady of 28 years.
• She is a very gentle person and has a good sense of humour.
• She is very artistic and creative and has an exceptional eye for attention to detail.
• She is very intelligent and picks up new skills easily.
• L applies herself to household chores and works very hard at the workshops at Garvald producing exceptional work.
• She loves all kinds of music and loves going to the ballet.

The team current consists of two ladies that work from L's home. L lives with her mum who is very much part of any planning of L's life and works alongside the team to ensure L's needs are met.

The shift pattern is currently 9 am to 4:30 pm, although it would be with the view of being flexible with the team. Rotas are done within the team itself to ensure that cover is provided Monday to Friday, and to cover any annual leave as required. This service does not currently have any weekends.

A driver would be preferable but is not essential.
