Common Thread supports some of the UK’s most vulnerable children and young people. Many have been affected by significant trauma and/or neglect, others are challenged by the impact of ASD and other barriers to learning. 

We believe in doing things differently and understand that not all learning takes place in the classroom. The goal of our Education Offer is to transform lives through our ability to connect with young people and make learning come alive.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional Teacher to join our team. 

The ideal candidate will be a qualified teacher with an interest in leading learning for Care Experienced young people in the S1-S6 age range. You will be values-driven and believe in putting young people first. Your practice will be founded on enthusiasm and creativity. You will have exceptional communication skills and be able to take the lead in a team comprising young people, parents and families and colleagues from a range of disciplines and backgrounds.

You will be based at our Dumfries Hub and your role will be to lead the learning for the young people who attend school there as well as those who engage in learning via online. You will be supported by a Tutor who will deliver aspects of the curriculum, however, your role will entail overseeing quality in planned learning and assessment for all the young people – likely to be a group of approximately 10 -12. In addition to the Tutor, you will be supported by a group of Therapeutic Support Staff. You may, at times, be required to travel to the Kilmarnock Education Hub – all travel costs will be reimbursed at an agreed rate.
