Modern Apprentice - Early Years Practitioner

Full Time Position (40 hours per week Monday-Friday)

This is an exciting new position at Craighead which will allow the successful individual to

gain a Level 3 SVQ in Social Services (Children and Young People) while working full time. As

a modern apprentice you will become part of the existing team at Craighead and be

involved in all aspects of day to day nursery life. Our three playrooms offer experiences for

children of different ages and developmental stages – the Nest 0-2 years, the Den 2-3 years

and the Warren 3-5 years. You would be involved in planning learning experiences for our

children and providing comfort and care. The SVQ3 is a work based qualification looking at

the policies and practices of working with young children including child development. It

will allow you to register with the SSSC which is an essential requirement for Early Years

Practitioners. Upon completion of the apprenticeship, which will take approx. 18 months to

2 years, you may be able to secure a permanent position at Craighead Country Nursery

School, depending on staffing levels and satisfactory completion of the apprenticeship.

Working hours can be between 7.30am-6pm, and shifts would be set over 5 days. We are

open 50 weeks of the year, closed for two weeks at Christmas. Holiday entitlement is 28

days annually. Hourly rate will be dependent on experience being brought to the position.

Please note – no public transport serves the nursery. You would have to either

have your own transport or be able show you have a reliable way of getting to

work.
