Early Years Practitioners

St Margarets Nursery & Pre-school are currently looking to recruit experienced Early Years Practitioners to join our amazing team.

We currently have vacancies available with all our age groups, Babies, Tweenies, Toddlers and Pre-school; we are open to discussions on room/age preferences.

You must have SVQ Level 3, HNC or qualified in Early Years Education.

Key elements of the post:

  • Ensure your room is set up prior to the children entering in the morning/afternoon session.
  • Plan, observe, evaluate and reflect on learning experiences for the children.
  • Ensure activities are age/stage appropriate and/or appropriate for the individual child.
  • Ensure that children are actively engaged in activities indoors and outdoors.
  • Ensure the health and safety, cleaning & outdoor checklists are carried out prior to the nursery opening and where applicable throughout the day.
  • Positively communicate with parents/guardians to ensure we are up to date with the child’s routine i.e. sleep patterns, mealtimes development etc.
  • Ensure floor books, self-evaluation, playroom practice observations are up to date and reflects the children's voice.
  • Work as part of a key worker system, ensuring you know your key children's individual needs, next steps and achievements.
  • Effective use of Edinburgh Council toolkits and contribution towards self-evaluation across the nursery setting, using How Good is Our Early Learning and Childcare and Building the Ambition.
  • Be a reflective practitioner who will role model and work with a team.
  • Adhere to St Margarets Nursery & Pre-school's policies and procedures.
  • Always have a polite, professional and approachable manner.
  • Create a safe and stimulating learning environment and provide a high standard of care for the children.
  • Keep up to date with all Early Years documents, regulations, Child Acts, and new policies and procedures that are regularly changing.
