Early Years Practitioner

Our Maryhill nursery is currently recruiting a fully qualified and experienced practitioner. The ideal candidate will already have the skills and knowledge for working with babies and young children, have a loving, caring and friendly nature. This is a full time post for an enthusiastic professional.

The successful candidate must hold at least an HNC or SVQ 3 in Early Years, Childhood Practice or equivalent, with current experience of working in the nursery sector. It is expected that any applicant will be registered with SSSC at practitioner level and already be a member of the PVG Scheme with Disclosure Scotland.

The roles and responsibilities of the practitioner include:-

· Ability to provide a high quality learning environment for our babies that encourage curiosity, investigation and creativity that include a sense of fun.

· Ensure children are happy in the nursery and have fun, giving each child plenty of time for cuddles and love.

· Experience of planning, observing and recording learning experiences for individual children as well as for groups of children that are age and stage appropriate within child led environment.

· Have knowledge and skills to implement current practice documents within the playroom, including Pre-birth to Three Curriculum, Curriculum for Excellence, GIRFEC and Building the Ambition.

· Competent in day to day routines within a nursery to enable children and families to appreciate the full nursery experience.

· Proficient in ICT skills to be efficient in completing paperwork for both the children and the service, especially key worker responsibilities.

· Be confident in supporting children with additional support needs, whilst ensuring inclusion and safeguarding for all.

· Establish excellent professional relationships with parents and other nursery stakeholders to enable effective connections for day to day practices and for transitions.

· Demonstrate excellent communication skills when communicating with children, parents, colleagues and other professionals within the nursery.

· Be proactive in implementing best practice and working with colleagues to retain an excellent quality care service.

· Be conscientious with regard to timekeeping and absence.

· Follow all nursery policies and procedures, including Health and Safety.
