About the Role:

To improve private sector housing conditions across Aberdeen City by formal determination of Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO) licenses and Short Term Let (STL) licence applications, and also through a variety of formal and informal advice and enforcement actions in respect of Landlord Registration, HMO Licensing, Short Term Lets Licensing and the Council’s Scheme of Assistance.

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

HNC in building, construction or equivalent

Full current UK driving licence

The postholder is able to demonstrate:

Skills & experience in:

Ability to communicate effectively

Ability to produce effective Committee reports

Ability to deal with the public, including landlords, agents, solicitors and contractors

Ability to work individually without supervision, or as part of a team

Ability to write letters and reports

Ability to represent Council at Committee meetings

Ability to use a range of computer packages currently used by PSHU

Understanding of:

Legislation that underpins Landlord Registration, HMO licensing, Short Term Lets and Scheme of Assistance

Housing (Scotland) Act 2006, concerning Work Notices & Maintenance Orders

Knowledge of Private Sector Housing issues and the Repairing Standard
