Location: Marischal College
Duration: 1x Permanent; 1 x Fixed term for 2 years
Hours: 37 hours per week

As part of the Capital Cluster within the Resources Function the purpose of this role is to support the Quantity Surveyors in the provision of quantity surveying services and technical advice to elected members, other members of the Service, Client Services, external consultants and external customers.

The post holder will demonstrate a high degree of communication skills and shall be able to work independently or as part of a team. They shall display a strong focus on delivering excellent customer service whilst demonstrating a positive approach to work to deliver a consistent, high level of service.


The minimum requirements for this post are:

Degree, HNC or HND standard or equivalent in appropriate technical discipline.
Suitable experience demonstrating an excellent all-round knowledge of all aspects of quantity surveying duties.
Ability to carry out visits to construction sites.


You will be required to:

Assist with the preparation of technical evaluations, business plans and option appraisals taking into account issues such as sustainability and life cycle costing.
Provide cost estimates
Prepare Bills of Quantities, Description of Works and Schedules of Rates using computerised systems.
Manage the tender process and preparation of contract documentation.
Analyse tender offers in accordance with the Council’s Stranding Orders and good practice. Issue relevant information from preferred tenderer to other members of the design team for comment. Prepare reports on tender offers and assist in the compilation of reports for client Committees and external clients.
Provision of full post-contract quantity surveying services.
