Roles that require PVG Membership
Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £31,505 per annum / £17.31 per hour)
The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.
Job purpose/about the role
To lead the team responsible for developing, planning and managing a variety of City Development and Infrastructure Projects which will positively impact the sustainable economic growth of Aberdeen City and its region, particularly in relation to energy and energy transition. The outputs fit the aims of the LOIP, Regional Economic Strategy (RES) and the Aberdeen City Region Hydrogen Strategy and Action Plan. Lead on the delivery of the H2 Programme; and contribute to the overall economic objective for the Council to create the conditions for sustainable and inclusive economic growth in the city.
This will be achieved through working closely and collaboratively with colleagues from other council services, other local authorities, and 3rd party local, national and international bodies.
Key elements of the role include the following:
- Development and implementation of projects that support the Council’s priorities in energy and energy transition.
- Leading the project management of projects and monitor and evaluate performance.
- Leading the development of business cases that can be used to bid for external funding, including the Scottish Government and UK Government.
The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:
- A degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline or demonstrable equivalent experience
- Membership of a relevant professional body (desirable, not essential)
The postholder is able to demonstrate:
- Proven experience in leading complex projects including trans-national European projects.
- Proven track record in managing staff and resources.
- Proven experience in managing significant project budgets.
- Proven ability to write reports, briefings for elected members, press releases
- Proven experience in negotiating, planning and monitoring agreements and/or contracts.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain successful, complex internal and external working relationships and partnerships with local, regional and national organisations
- Proven experience of delivering presentations using a variety of methods and media ranging from small groups to large conferences.
