Job Description

We have an exciting new role in Early Years for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual who wants to make a difference for the children of Aberdeenshire.

With an excellent working knowledge of the Curriculum for Excellence and experience of working with parents and families; you will observe and interact with children on an individual basis, in groups and with their families to develop plans and interventions to address attainment. 

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are integral to this role, as is the ability to positively influence people.  You will be required to collaborate effectively with other stakeholders and work strategically to inform future practices and feed into subsequent Pupil Equity Fund (PEF) Plans.

The Essential Criteria for this role include:

HNC Childhood Practice or SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF Level 7 or Equivalent practice qualification or past practice qualification as accepted by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).

SCQF Level 8 or 9 qualification such as HND in Childhood Practice, SVQ in Social Services (Children & Young People), SVQ Children’s Care Learning and Development or equivalent relevant experience.

You must be willing to undertake and complete a BA in Childhood Practice or PDA at Level 9 within 5 years of starting in the role.  Study will be undertaken in your own time and may involve 8 to 10 hours study per week.

There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality and service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service of the organisation.

This position is subject to Local Government terms and Conditions. 

Initially you will be based in the location advertised, but you may be required to work elsewhere within the Fraserburgh CSN.

Requirements

This post is regulated work with children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
