Job Description
The Place Information and Delivery (PID) Team has a key role within the Planning and Economy Service of Aberdeenshire Council.
The Team’s functions fall into two main categories:
Firstly, through the provision and management of information and data we seek to ensure that the policies and plans of Aberdeenshire are based on a reliable and accurate foundation. The team undertakes monitoring and analysis of a wide range of data as part of a cross-service information and research capacity, primarily for the Planning and Economy Service but also for the benefit of the wider Council and the communities we serve.
Secondly, the Team actively works with other Council Services and the development industry to facilitate the delivery of new sites for housing and employment development through the Local Development Plan. We ensure appropriate resources are directed to where they are required to support the right development, while continually monitoring progress towards implementation and completion. A project management approach is used to ensure the effective co-ordination of resources between stakeholders involved in the delivery of development sites. Project Officers also manage/undertake other specific projects across Aberdeenshire.
An opportunity exists for an individual to work across both aspects of the team to assist the Council in better understanding the communities we serve, and the economic and natural environment we operate in, to ensure the most effective allocation of services and resources to deliver services and facilitate development. The knowledge and skills of the team are also employed to assist other Services in achieving their aims and objectives including economic development, regeneration and delivering community benefits. The Team is adaptable and approachable, and often use positive, proactive measures to encourage development to proceed. We would particularly welcome applications from candidates with experience in data and spatial analysis for example ArcGIS and Power BI.
There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.
