Job Description

Live Life Aberdeenshire has an exciting opportunity to join its growing museums team, to drive forward our heritage offer and deliver on our ambitious plans. The post of Museum Conservator will develop and deliver a long-term conservation, care and storage programme for objects in Aberdeenshire’s Museums’ Collections ensuring all associated professional documentation is maintained to meet accreditation standards.

One of the main purposes of this role will be to maintain the conservation studio and its equipment, manage freelance conservators for specialist work and undertake occasional conservation work for other museums and private clients. Other responsibilities include leading on environmental monitoring systems and data reports for The Discovery Centre, Arbuthnot Museum, Aberdeenshire Farming Museum, Banchory Museum, and supporting local third sector heritage organisations in relation to loans and object care.

Working alongside the Museum Curator, you will report to the Museums Development Coordinator.
