Housing Property is a large multi skilled service responsible for the planning and delivery of all capital works, maintenance and repairs to the 20,000 Council housing stock across the City of Edinburgh. Housing Property manage a budget of around £50m and carry out over 120,000 responsive repairs on an annual basis. Housing Property carry out 1500 kitchen and bathroom upgrades each year along with central heating systems, window and doors upgrades and large external fabric repairs and upgrades. This section also holds the expertise to prepare performance specifications for several areas within the Capital Programme.

Housing Property are also responsible to ensure our homes meets  the Energy Efficiency Standards for Social Housing which aim to provide excellent quality and energy efficient homes for our tenants, and over the next few years look for more innovative solutions and new technologies to reduce energy demand of our housing stock.

The Building Surveying section is key to the preparation of design solutions and provision of tender/contract documentation in addition to preparing CDM documents such as Pre Construction Information documents. This section works closely with Health & Social Care to provide design solutions to assist our tenants stay in their homes, and undertakes up to £1.0M of disabled alterations to our existing stock

The role has a diverse range of responsibility and has a good balance of project management, CDM, contract preparation/management and site inspections requirements on a Capital Programme, delivering around £50m annually which directly benefits the tenants of The City of Edinburgh Council. Mechanical and/or Electrical experience would be desirable in this role.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.  For roles in grade 5 or above, annual increments in our contribution zones are dependent on achieving agreed performance goals.
