School Support Assistant
Liberton High School
Salary: £19,687 - £19,969 (pro-rata for part-time and sessional)
Hours: 30 per week, 39 weeks sessional
Days worked will be:
Monday to Thursday - 8.30 am to 4 pm (15 minute break and 50 minute lunch)
Friday 8.30 am to 13.05 pm (15 minute break)
We are delighted to be able to offer an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join us as a School Support Assistant. In this role, the successful candidate will work as an integral part of our overall school administrative function combining direct administrative support to a number of departments and giving support to the main school office as required.
Key Tasks will include,
- assisting with administration tasks, e.g. daily registration, arrangements for organised excursions, events, work experience, visiting groups
- administrative elements of pupil welfare requirements
- non-professional aspects of school reporting procedures
- assisting with the input, handling and transmission of assessment data
- reprographic duties e.g. photocopying, collating, stapling, binding. Delivery of completed work to Faculties as required.
- procurement support via on-line ordering of consumables
- assisting with budget administration
This role requires an ability to both maintain confidentiality and resilience, whilst documenting sometimes challenging and complex situations.
Other responsibilities include the management of the Education Maintenance Allowances, general filing, reception for department phone calls and the requisitioning of purchase orders.
This role is one of supporting the staff team and does not involve direct pupil support in classrooms.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.
Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
