Senior Social Worker
South Office
Salary: £40,275 - £47,654 (pro-rata for part time)
Hours: Full-time and part-time available
A vacancy has arisen for a qualified senior social worker to lead a Mental Health and Substance Misuse Team in the following locations:
1 x South East Locality, Captain's Road. Full-time (36 hours per week)
1 x North West Locality, Pennywell Road. Full-time (36 hours per week)
1 x Alcohol Related Brain Damage and Residential Rehabilitation Team, Pennywell Road. Full-time (36 hours per week)
1 x South West Locality, Wester Hailes Healthy Living Centre. Part-time (18 hours per week)
The teams comprise of Mental Health Officers, Mental Health and Substance Misuse Social Workers and Community Care Assistants. Experience of partnership working would be desirable as the team works closely with our partners in health and is integrated within the wider Health and Social Care Partnership.
Experience required:
• Professional Social Work Qualification (i.e. BA, DipSW, CQSW or equivalent)
• Any of the following post qualifying qualifications would be desirable; MHO accreditation, Practice Educator qualification or Advanced professional certificate in Adult Protection.
• Experience of supporting people who have challenging and complex needs, ideally with a focus on Mental Health and Substance Misuse service users would be desirable.
The post holder is expected to demonstrate:
• An ability to manage risk and allocate work within the team
• An understanding of staff supervision and development
• An ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a range of individuals, including service users and other professionals
• An understanding of Adult Support and Protection legislation.
• The ability to use complex information to prioritise work
• An interest and awareness of recovery focused models of delivery in the community for both Substance Misuse and Mental Health.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.
