AIMS Graduate Technician (Fixed Term)

We are recruiting for a Graduate Technician to join the AIMS Project team based in Dumfries and Galloway College, Crichton Campus.

 

As a trainee with the team, you will learn the skills and expertise it takes to contribute to the innovation and development of new products, introducing businesses to new technology and innovative ways of manufacturing. Candidates will have a strong and demonstrable interest in engineering and technology. Individuals are sought who want to:

 

  1. Help improve manufacturing in Dumfries & Galloway,

  3. Be in a role where you are hands on and making a difference.

 

Your career journey with the team will enable you to operate within innovative facilities incorporating state of the art equipment and technology, we will provide you with all the hands-on experience and skills you need to provide support to the technical team in the delivery of the project’s services.

 

Due to the funding criteria for this post, you must be a recent graduate or be able to demonstrate as a minimum the relevant technical expertise at SCQF level 6 (working towards level 7 or 8); aged 16-24 and residing in Dumfries and Galloway.

 

This post is fixed term for 24 weeks.

 

NOTE: Applications will be considered from candidates on a job share basis.

 

 

Project Team - Advancing Innovative Manufacturing in the South of Scotland (AIMS)

 

The AIMS project offers local businesses access to advanced innovation facilities incorporating state-of-the-art equipment and technology. The project focus is on encouraging innovation by supporting a range of businesses that have potential new products and to help develop them for market, as well as upskilling the workforce helping to forge skills pathways for local people.

 

Business: AIMS supports businesses to innovate, develop, prove, and introduce new products and services. For example, prototyping, product development and process improvement. Our technical team can train your employees on the latest engineering technologies, such as CNC machining, digital metrology, 3D printing, robotics and automation including cobot welding. Our project provides support to all Dumfries and Galloway businesses, large and small, and our team are here to help you prosper and achieve more.

Private Individuals: The AIMS team are available to train and upskill adults and young people from aged 19+, this includes school leavers, job seekers, students, sole traders, and entrepreneurs. Our objective is to mentor local people into employment or education and to help local businesses thrive in a modern competitive marketplace, ultimately creating jobs and economic growth for the South of Scotland. Our vocational training courses are half day or 2-day courses, from taster sessions at introduction / beginner level to bespoke courses aimed at businesses and individuals who want to develop their skill set.
