We are currently recruiting for a Placement Plus Employability Key Worker to join our busy Employability and Skills Team.

This challenging and exciting role will support the successful delivery of externally funded Placement Plus programme.

The successful candidate will support clients from vulnerable circumstances to access, move into and sustain positive outcomes, recognising that this may involve other opportunities such as learning, training, and paid work placements.

Working with a caseload of clients to help them remove any barriers to progression by accessing appropriate support and funding, this post requires a holistic approach, including a robust knowledge of training providers and business sectors.

Whilst the post is based in Dumfries, the post-holders will be expected to be flexible and responsive to demand and work regionwide. The hours for this post are 36 per week however, we would consider a combination of flexible working that can meet service needs.

You should possess an SVQ Level 2 in Advice, Guidance, Social Welfare or Community Learning & Development related discipline or demonstrate equivalence.  You should also have experience of working with young people and adults on a 1-1 or group basis.  You should have knowledge of a wide range of support services, employability sector and the welfare system.

A current driving licence is an essential requirement for this post, however if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.

This post is Fixed Term until 31 March 2024.

This post may be suitable for secondment.  Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
