We are currently recruiting to positions right across Dumfries and Galloway with jobs available at all of our roads service depots. You will be leading a small team of operatives to undertake a range of road maintenance and construction activities ensuring works are completed to the required.
standards adhering to quality specifications and maintaining productivity levels. The team undertake a range of road maintenance and construction tasks including laying paving slabs and kerbs, concrete and asphalt laying, drainage works, temporary traffic management including erecting and removing signs, barriers, and cones and other related roads maintenance activities. 

These posts are permanent contracts for 36 hours per week.

You will be required to contribute to the Council’s winter maintenance activities such as gritting, snow clearance and responding to flooding. Full induction to these and are other duties will be provided. A Category C driving license is an essential criteria for the job.

The job involves leading the team in the operation of a full range of road maintenance plant and machinery including rollers, mini excavators, disc cutters, breaker units and other small plant. 

The safety of our team is our highest priority so you will be required to wear a range of personal protective equipment and ensure the health and safety of the public, colleagues and yourself taking a leadership role for ensuring health and safety within the team.
