We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic teacher primary to work within Castle Douglas Primary School for 14 hours per week.  The successful candidate will provide effective learning and teaching and should demonstrate a commitment to creating a quality learning environment. They will carry out related activities and developments following local, national, and school policies under the direction of the Headteacher.

 

Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS), Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT in the appropriate sector.

 

This post is temporary until August 2023.

 

This post may be suitable for secondment.  Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post.

 

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.  From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council. 

 

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.

In accordance with Teachers Conditions of Service (SNCT – Appendix 2.19), Teachers who commence their employment or change their pay scale with Dumfries and Galloway Council after the first day of the school session will have their salary for the remainder of the school salary year recalculated to reflect how teachers accrue pay and leave. In these circumstances, a calculation will be carried out upon commencement of employment and pay and leave will be adjusted.  This may have a temporary detriment to your salary however this will balance out over the course of the session.
