We are looking for a new Children and Families, Team Manager to join our highly motivated management team who all share a determination to fully deliver ‘The Promise’ and improve the lives and experiences our children, young people and their families in Dumfries and Galloway.

 

We are looking for someone with the care, compassion, kindness, commitment and technical skills to lead and inspire our amazing workforce to help meet the holistic needs of children, young people and their families who require support. Relationships are at the heart of all we do in Dumfries & Galloway

 

In partnership with others, you will drive forward best practice at strategic, operational and individual level to ensure we provide an innovative, caring and responsive service. Key aspects of the role are to inspire and further develop a highly skilled and committed workforce to deliver quality services and service provision in line with key drivers, such as our commitment to The Promise, Bairns’ Hoose Standards, UNCRC and the Children’s Services Plan (2023 -2026).

 

The Team Manager will be responsible for operational children and families social work services, with a focus on developing capacity to provide quality outreach support for families in need of early intervention, alongside those who require intensive support when there is a risk of family disruption or a breakdown in trusting and loving relationships for children. You will also be responsible for the ongoing development of our frontline child protection service, including our Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub, by working in close partnership with our key statutory public protection partners.

 

The post will enable you to grow as a leader and manager in a Council which has our most valuable children and families firmly at its heart. We will provide excellent opportunities for ongoing continuous leadership and professional development, with a fantastic network of support, to ensure you can be as effective as possible in improving the lives of children and families in Dumfries and Galloway.

  • A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.

 

  • This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/ Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.  From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

 

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
