This is an exciting opportunity to join Dumfries & Galloway Council’s Telecare Team. Care Call and Telecare is the Council’s monitoring centre for the Telecare service, which offers protection and assisted independent living 24 hours a day 7 days per week to all its clients.

The responsibilities of the role are to install, maintain and remove Telecare systems and associated devices within clients’ own homes and the wider community. You will also be required to instruct clients on the use of technology and provide continued support and re-assurance. You will deliver excellent customer service for each contact, and the Council will be providing suitable systems, processes, and training to support you in this role.

As someone who enjoys being a positive contributor to the team, you will work flexibly with your colleagues to ensure the client is always the main priority. You will need to demonstrate a positive attitude, a calm approach and real drive and determination to offer the very best in customer excellence.

The successful candidate will need to have highly developed communication skills, as both written and verbal skills are crucial in this role. You will have excellent listening and questioning skills along with the ability to explain information clearly and above all courteously.

Educational requirements for this role are standard grade or equivalent in English, Maths, and previous experience in a customer focused service.

The post holder will be supporting the existing Telehealthcare Assessor Technicians and working alongside the other Telehealthcare Officers, sharing knowledge and experience.

A current driving licence is an essential requirement, and the successful candidates will be subject to a PVG check. Weekend working will be required for this post as part of an on-call rota. A Council vehicle, uniform and all equipment will be provided.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
