Wallace Hall Academy is a vibrant and forward looking school that is aiming to
provide the best possible future for all our pupils. We are seeking to appoint a
Trainee School Support Manager on a part-time, Fixed Term basis.
You would be required to work 14 hours per week, 41 weeks per year. The
post will initially be till 31st March 2024 but will possibly last for up to one year.
Working across both primary and secondary sectors over the course of your
week, you will provide support to the School Support Manager and
Headteacher in the smooth running of the business functions of the school.
To be successful in this role, you will be enthusiastic about providing high
quality support and have good verbal, written and interpersonal skills. You will
be able to quickly establish relationships and operate with credibility whilst
liaising and advising senior management. Working on your own initiative, you
will demonstrate effective time management skills and be a proven problem
solver.
You will have experience in administration, in financial record keeping and
compiling and presenting financial and other information to a high degree of
accuracy and with attention to detail. You will operate in compliance with the
financial practices of the Council. You will understand and be adaptable to
electronic systems and be open to new ideas and developments.
You will have knowledge of the principles of good office practice, HR policy
and practice and Health & Safety legislation. Understanding the school office
practices, you will have a desire to drive improvements and ensure
compliance whilst adapting to the local context in each school to ensure that
practice is meeting the needs of each school community.
Requirements
This post may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager
must be sought before applying for this post.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/ or
Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act
- Preferred candidates are required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo
a PVG Scheme update prior to formal offer of employment being made by
Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if
offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required
to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the
country or countries in which they are resident.
A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
