Job Description

Based in the East Locality, you will work full time, 37 hours per week on a temporary basis for 6 months.

Requirements

You will have HNC in Childcare and Education or equivalent.

Responsibilities

You will contribute towards assessments of need and risk, and provide direct services to children and young people aged 0 to 18 years and their families, who are the subject of professional concern. To undertake direct work with parents who are affected by substance misuse, mental health or domestic violence.

You will assist the Team Manager in the planning, delivery and evaluation of a range of direct work services for children and families.

You will work with other professionals to promote good parenting, prevent family breakdown and promote better life chances for children at risk of significant harm, and in need of supervision and protection.

The Individual

You will have experience of supervision and training staff in the delivery of family support services. You will have experience of delivering parenting programmes and undertaking written assessments. You will have experience of working in a children and families setting.

You will have proven experience and skills in supervising staff in achieving change. You will have excellent communication skills both verbal and written. You will have effective planning, organisational and decision making skills and the ability to work to timescales.

You will have a current driving licence.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.
