Based at Linlathen Resource Centre, Children and Families Service, Permanence and Kinship Care Team you will work full time, 37 hours per week. One post will involve permanence work and the other will have a focus on kinship care, please indicate on the application form which post(s) you are applying for.

You will have a Social Work degree, CQSW, Dip SW, CSS (with appropriate option).
You will provide an effective high quality social work service to children and families, including kinship carers. You will assist children and families to live safely in the community and so prevent reception into care. You will work with children in care towards rehabilitation with their families of origin or towards permanent placement with substitute families.
You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of child care and protection practice and legislation and be committed to multi-agency working and bring a positive attitude to your work.
You will have experience of working with children and families and understand the needs of children who are ‘looked after’. You must be able to communicate effectively with children, involving families and carers in decision making processes. You will have the ability to undertake comprehensive assessments within given timescales.
For the kinship post, you will have experience of placing children and working with kinship families. You will have knowledge of key areas of policy and practice in relation to kinship care and be able to work flexibly in this area.
You will be able to work beyond normal hours when needs of children and families require this.
You must be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council within a specified timeframe.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.
