Job Summary

The position is available based from Kirkintilloch Leisure Centre (KLC) and working across various venues managed by EDLC. 

KLC is a busy multipurpose wet and dry leisure centre. Our Maintenance Assistant has secured a new job in the Highlands after 15 successful years with us and we are now looking for a motivated individual to join our team and help keep everything running smoothly, safely and efficiently.

The Maintenance Assistant will support the KLC Leisure Team in the effective and efficient maintenance of Leisure Centre buildings, plant and equipment and to assist in the delivery of all service standards. 

Duties will include maintaining pool plant and heating systems, general maintenance, health & safety compliance, record keeping, liaising with contractors and supporting capital projects.

The successful candidate will hold a Pool Plant Operators certificate and a current first aid qualification. Applications will also be considered from individuals with relevant maintenance experience able to acquire these within a defined period. 

The post holders will be required to work outside normal hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays. Disclosure Scotland checks will apply.

PVG / Disclosure Scotland

The following criteria applies to all roles within East Dunbartonshire Council where PVG/Disclosure checks are essential criteria

Where the post you are applying for is considered Regulated Work under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by East Dunbartonshire Council. 

Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check which will be deducted from the successful candidate’s first salary payment.  

In specific circumstances the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee’s wages following commencement of employment. Approval in such circumstances will be made by HR Services Lead.  

Should an employee leave in advance of the payment being deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee’s final salary.  

The criteria outlined above will apply to existing employees of East Dunbartonshire Council who apply for roles for which a PVG/Disclosure check is required.
