Windygoul Primary School has a rising roll which currently standing at around 700 pupils, making up 23 classes in the main school, 3 classes in our Woodside Provision and 6 classes in the Nursery (70/70). Windygoul has a diverse school population drawing from a wide demographic and we strive to ensure that every member of our Windygoul family is valued and supported to thrive in our community, both now and into the future. There are plans to extend the nursery in the near future to accommodate a further 48/48 children.
We see ourselves as a learning community for all where achievements are celebrated and improvement priorities are built through a shared dialogue and understanding. Through a relentless focus on Learning and Teaching and the development of strong community links, we aim to provide engaging learning experiences in a stimulating environment where learners are happy, safe and valued. It is desirable for candidates to have experience in Early Level, including Early Learning and Childcare. Experience across junior school (Primary 1 and 2) would also beneficial. They should also have knowledge and experience of supporting learning and teaching to enhance pupil experience, achievement and attainment across the curriculum, especially within literacy.

The role of a Depute Head Teacher is to assist and, where necessary, to deputise for the Head Teacher as required. The role of the Head Teacher is, within the resources available, to conduct the affairs of the school to the benefit of the pupils and the community it serves, through pursuing objectives and implementing policies set by East Lothian Council under the overall direction of the Head of Education.

Please Note - Pay arrangements for those starting after 1st day of school session
In accordance with Teachers Conditions of Service (SNCT - Appendix 2.19), Teachers who commence employment with East Lothian Council after the first day of the school session will have their salary for the remainder of the school salary year (which runs from 1 August to 31 July each year), ; recalculated to reflect how teachers accrue leave and pay.
In these circumstances, a calculation will be carried out upon commencement of employment and leave and pay will be adjusted. Further information will be provided to the successful candidate should this be applicable.
