Temporary position for 12 months.
Days and Hours of Work:
Monday - Friday, 08:00-16:00

The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting Customer and Library Services. They will be responsible for the sorting, delivery and distribution of books and other materials across our 12 public libraries, 7 Secondary School libraries and other sites within East Lothian, such as Museums, Primary Schools, and nurseries using an East Lothian Council Fleet vehicle.
The role involves lone working so the successful candidate will have the ability to work independently, using their initiative to manage daily tasks and the van route, and resolve any issues as they arise. They will also be able to work flexibly responding to the changing needs of the service.
The successful candidate will possess good digital skills, and be competent with Microsoft applications such as Outlook.
This post is physically demanding with a large part of the role involving manual handling, lifting and loading boxes and other equipment.

To provide a distribution service for library materials to libraries and schools and to support the Mobile Library Service within East Lothian, maximising efficiency of service delivery within specific standards and in accordance with the Council’s policies and plans with a commitment to achieve best value.

Job Requirements
Relevant Qualifications
A minimum of SVQ1/Standard Grade General level English/Maths or National 4 English/Maths or Literacy/Numeracy or Intermediate 1 Communication/Numeracy and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience.
Driving Licence
A full current driving licence is essential to carry out the duties of this post.
Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC).
Level 1 Disclosure Clearance
This role requires Level 1 Disclosure Clearance to allow access to the Public Sector Network. ELC will submit a Police Act Disclosure application on behalf of the preferred candidate and receipt of the subsequent certificate will be required prior to commencement.
