We have an exciting opportunity for a Roads Officer to join a flexible team of professionals in delivering a high quality service within East Lothian Council Roads Services team. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who has knowledge and experience in the inspection and maintenance of a road network. 

You will be required to use Computer aided design (CAD ) to produce drawings/works packages to allow the maintenance and  construction of the road network. You will also be required to assess, review, prioritise, prepare orders and supervise works on site by the internal labour force and or external contractors ensuring works are completed in accordance with contract documentation and best practice.

You will need to be confident with good verbal and written communication skills who can quickly establish good working relationships.  You will also need to be IT proficient as digital technology is used daily as part of the role. You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team of Technical staff and will engage with a wide and diverse audience (Technical and non-Technical) as well as members of the public.

You will be working within an office environment and will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within beautiful East Lothian. You will need to have an ability to work flexibly to meet the needs and demands of the service.

Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications
Educated to HNC/SVQ Level 2 in Civil Engineering or related discipline and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience.

Driving Licence
As the duties of this role require you to effectively travel to successfully undertake the full remit of the role, you must hold a current driving licence and have access to a vehicle.*
