As a member of East Renfrewshire Council’s Community Safety team, you will be the eyes and ears of the Council through daily patrols around our communities. You will play a key frontline role in supporting local residents and will have enforcement responsibilities including parking, dog fouling and dog control, litter and smoking in public places.

 

You will investigate domestic noise and other complaints and be the first point of contact in dealing with minor incidents of anti-social behaviour and neighbour disputes. You may also be involved in providing mediation services to help resolve disputes and assist in preparing evidence and witness statements for use in reporting to the Procurator Fiscal.

 

You will also undertake security patrols and provide security alarm response services for Council properties.

 

Our team operates from 7.30am until 1am, 365 days per year and you will work a shift pattern within these times. Our officers currently work 11 hours shifts (with one hour unpaid lunch break) on a rolling 3 days on/3 days off pattern.

Employees with a contract of employment for 3 months or more are automatically included in our Local Government Pension Scheme which is a career average scheme.  Pension contribution rates are based on a tiered system determined by your annual full time equivalent pensionable pay.  For example for those earning up to and including £21,800 the contribution rate you pay is 5.5% of your salary. The council pays the rest of the cost of providing your benefits. This amount varies but it's always enough to make sure your pension can be paid and will be at least 19.3% of your pay.  In addition you get tax relief on your contributions - the tax you pay on your salary is calculated after your pension contributions are deducted.
