We’re looking for an experienced IT professional to manage and develop our database and system integration environment to join our ICT team, supporting the Council’s database and integration environments. As part of East Renfrewshire Council’s ongoing drive to channel shift to a “digital by default” model wherever possible, we are committed to continuing the expansion of convenient, 24*7 access to our services for both internal and external customers. As part of our team, you’ll play an important role in both developing new systems and supporting and enhancing existing ones as we continue this expansion.

In this role you will be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience in using relational databases (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle) and ETL processes (extract, transform and load) tasks to move data between different IT systems. You will also have knowledge of scripting for automation (e.g. Windows Batch Scripting, Microsoft Powershell, etc) and the principles of source control (Git).

You will support our customers by helping in identifying use cases and support prioritisation based on feasibility and value. You will support the development of a minimum viable product and business case and, during the implementation, ensure developments are adopted, embedded and measured for impact.

You will manage database configuration, including installing and upgrading software and maintaining relevant documentation. You will monitor database activity and resource usage, optimise database performance and forecast resource needs.

Depending upon the needs of the service, staff in Hybrid roles will typically work from home for up to 40-60% of the time where the needs of the service can still be met, however for the right candidate full time home working will be considered.
