We’re looking for an ICT Officer to join our ICT team, supporting the Council’s database and integration environments.
As part of East Renfrewshire Council’s ongoing drive to channel shift to a “digital by default” model wherever possible, we are committed to continuing the expansion of convenient, 24/7 access to our services for both internal and external customers. As part of our team, you’ll play an important role in both developing new systems and supporting and enhancing existing ones as we continue this expansion.
In this role you will be able to demonstrate experience of Microsoft SQL Server 2008, 2012 and 2014 and be able to understand and troubleshoot ETL (extract, transform and load) tasks using SQL Server Integration Services.
You will assist in management of database configuration, including installing and upgrading software and maintaining relevant documentation. You will monitor database activity and resource usage and optimise database performance and assist in forecasting resource needs.
You will maintain integration services to meet business demands.
You will review system software updates and identify those that merit action. You will tailor system software to maximise hardware functionality.
You will initiate and monitor actions to investigate and resolve problems in systems, processes and services, and determine problem fixes/remedies.
You will draft and maintain procedures and documentation for databases, and contribute to the setting of standards for definition, security and integrity of database objects and ensure conformance to these standards.
You will be an excellent communicator and team player with the interpersonal attributes to develop good working relationships with a range of ICT colleagues, internal customers and external suppliers.
