You will be responsible for carrying out financial assessments and offering income maximisation advice and support for residents of East Renfrewshire, their families and staff.
You will work as part of the Money Advice and Rights Team (MART). You will also work closely with staff, clients, benefit authorities etc to ensure that clients’ incomes are maximised effectively and that advice is provided to clients who are experiencing financial difficulty.
Experience of working with benefit providers and a basic knowledge of the Social Security system are essential. You will be expected to work as part of a team and to use your initiative to complete tasks within agreed time scales.
You will be expected to take part and contribute to team meetings, training events, and benefit uptake campaigns and work towards Scottish National Standards in information and advice.

Employees with a contract of employment for 3 months or more are automatically included in our Local Government Pension Scheme which is a career average scheme. Pension contribution rates are based on a tiered system determined by your annual full time equivalent pensionable pay. For example for those earning up to and including £21,800 the contribution rate you pay is 5.5% of your salary. The council pays the rest of the cost of providing your benefits.
