We are looking for a qualified planner with the enthusiasm and experience to contribute positively to the high-quality environment and sustainable development of East Renfrewshire.

The Council has recently adopted its Local Development Plan 2 (LDP2) and you will be responsible for the implementation of this plan and preparation of LDP3. You will also be involved in a wide range of other strategy development work including the Regional Spatial Strategy, preparation of Supplementary Guidance and assist with other strategies prepared by the Environment Department such as the Economic Development and Inclusive Growth Strategy.

You will also be responsible for undertaking Strategic Environmental Assessments of plans, programmes and strategies, so you should have a keen interest in environmental issues. You will be the Planning Advisor to the Council’s Local Review Body, advising the Members on an independent basis on planning procedures when they consider reviews of planning application decisions.

You will have a significant role to play in the Council’s ‘place-making’ agenda, to ensure that the places/communities in East Renfrewshire are planned, designed and managed to the highest standard. This will involve leading and contributing to policy development, supplementary guidance, projects and engagement with communities, developers and service providers.

Depending upon the needs of the service, staff in Hybrid roles will typically work from home for up to 40-60% of the time where the needs of the service can still be met.
