Falkirk Council is seeking to recruit an experienced Employment and Training Unit Manager who will be responsible for the overall management of the development, implementation and monitoring of employment & training strategies, initiatives and projects for the Council.
The ideal candidate would be qualified to degree level with substantial relevant senior management experience in relevant areas of service provision and a wide-ranging knowledge of current issues and developments relating to employability, economic development and child poverty.
It is essential that you are an excellent communicator with relevant project management, budgetary and report writing skills combined with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of National employment programmes. A proven track record of developing and delivering high quality diverse and complex employment and training initiatives and implementing contract and performance management strategies, aligned to a number of compliance and budgetary requirements.
Your role will involve regular contact with elected members, senior internal staff, operational staff, trade unions, community bodies, UK and Scottish Government Officials and Officers from other Council areas.
You will be required to represent the Authority at external forums considering the authority’s position with regard to providing a functional or professional response to changes in the external environment such as legislative and/or policy change.
