We have an exciting opportunity to join the Fife Health & Social Care Partnership (Fife HSCP) as a Senior Participation & Engagement Officer. The vision is for an integrated network of services which are planned, designed, and delivered with the involvement of people who use servicers and local communities in supporting health and wellbeing and ensures access to the right service, in the right place, at the right time; and enables people to live independent and healthier lives.

The successful candidate will be part of supporting the ongoing development of the newly formed participation and engagement service within the health and social care partnership.

Lead and manage the service team achieving strong local accountability of public engagement activity in the planning, redesign, and delivery of large-scale transformational change of a range of health and social care services ensuring these are based on the needs and aspirations of the people of Fife.

To lead on day-to-day management of distinct engagement and participation programmes across the health and social care partnerships portfolios to meet the strategic priorities as well as operational service delivery objectives

To lead and develop systems, processes, and procedures for engagement activities to assist H&SCP to ensure services are responsive, effective, and efficient based on the needs and aspirations of the people of Fife.

The Person

  • Leading and providing direct supervision to a team with responsibility for the operational management, including the development of the infrastructure to support participation and engagement activity across services within the partnership and locality planning
  • Developing systems and processes to support the involvement of people who use services in the delivery of transformational change in support of the health and social care partnerships objectives
  • Developing creative solutions to enable agreed outcomes to be achieved within the Partnership as well as with external stakeholders.
  • Ability to gather, collate and analyse information from various sources, some of which may be conflicting, and identify workable solutions
  • Building strong relationships with colleagues and partners across Services so that work is integrated with and supports other relevant work across NHS and in the Council, implementing opportunities to work more effectively with people who use services and local communities
  • Experience of working with people who use services and communities to effect change and overcoming barriers to engagement
  • A good understanding of the statutory landscape in Scotland, including national and local objectives
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experienced in the application of the SCDC National Standards for Community Engagement; the Health Improvement Scotland Participation Toolkit; and/or the Scottish Government Planning with People Guidance
  • Previous experience within a Local Authority, NHS or large organisation
  • Experience of working with the public and Strategic and Operational Planning
  • Understanding the benefits and barriers to public involvement in health and social care (Deliver results – See ‘How We Work Matters’ Framework
  • Ability to provide a regular and effective service

Before confirming your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.

We are currently shaping our future workstyles however, in light of current advice, we are introducing blended home/office working that will include office access days each week with homeworking for the remainder of your working time.
