Job Description

Glasgow Life is looking for a Business and Community Engagement Assistant to join us on a full time, fixed term contract until the end of August 2023.  As a Business and Community Engagement Assistant, you will be joining our in-demand Event Team. You will be part of a dedicated team which supports the inaugural 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships.

Glasgow Life is the strategic lead for events in the city. The team invests to attract, create and grow major cultural and sporting events. We deliver high-profile events, including the Merchant City Festival and Glasgow Mela. Our team also organise the World Pipe Band Championships and Glasgow's winter events. We are preparing to deliver the inaugural UCI Cycling World Championships in 2023. We are also coordinating a programme of activities as the European Capital of Sport 2023. And we are building a team to deliver the World Athletics Indoor Championships 2024. Our team work on behalf of the Glasgow Events Board. We act as an initial point of contact for events coming to the city. This includes working with local, national and international partners to maximise the benefits of events to the city. We aim to position and promote Glasgow as a world-leading event destination. Events boost the city’s tourism economy and provide memorable moments.

In 2023, Glasgow and locations across Scotland will host the UCI Cycling World Championships. The event brings together 13 world championships into one. Glasgow Life will deliver the sport competition, events and additional programmes in the city on behalf of the Cycling World Championships. We are expanding our team to deliver the world’s biggest-ever cycling event. Glasgow leads the way in hosting major cultural and sporting events. By using world-class facilities we’ll deliver 8 cycling disciplines. This will bring new ideas, partnerships and initiatives to the city. The role 
As a Business and Community Engagement Assistant, you’ll be an integral part of the team by supporting the implementation of the Glasgow delivery team’s business and community engagement strategy and subsequent operational plan. Reporting to Business and Community Engagement Officer and working alongside Glasgow Life’s Event Delivery team. 
The candidate 
If you’re interested in joining us as a Business and Community Engagement Assistant, you’ll need: 
• Evidence of further education qualifications and training or relevant equivalent work experience.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at stakeholder level to secure support, approval and deliver excellent outputs.
• Strong project management skills working within agreed parameters including time and budget.

Some of our roles are currently piloting hybrid working, with teams working between the office and home. Your line manager will agree these days with you. This balance enables you to continue much-needed collaborative working. 

Our Albion Street office has great links to public transport and parking nearby.

This role is working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
