Job Description

Glasgow Life is looking for a Senior Central Operations Manager to join us on a full time, fixed term contract until the end of August 2023. As a Senior Central Operations Manager, you will be joining our in-demand Event Team. You will be part of a dedicated team which supports the inaugural 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships.

Glasgow Life is the strategic lead for events in the city. The team invests to attract, create and grow major cultural and sporting events. We deliver high-profile events, including the Merchant City Festival and Glasgow Mela. Our team also organise the World Pipe Band Championships and Glasgow's winter events. We are preparing to deliver the inaugural UCI Cycling World Championships in 2023. We are also coordinating a programme of activities as the European Capital of Sport 2023. And we are building a team to deliver the World Athletics Indoor Championships 2024. Our team work on behalf of the Glasgow Events Board. We act as an initial point of contact for events coming to the city. This includes working with local, national and international partners to maximise the benefits of events to the city. We aim to position and promote Glasgow as a world-leading event destination. Events boost the city’s tourism economy and provide memorable moments.

In 2023, Glasgow and locations across Scotland will host the UCI Cycling World Championships. The event brings together 13 world championships into one. Glasgow Life will deliver the sport competition, events and additional programmes in the city on behalf of the Cycling World Championships. We are expanding our team to deliver the world’s biggest-ever cycling event. Glasgow leads the way in hosting major cultural and sporting events. By using world-class facilities we’ll deliver 8 cycling disciplines. This will bring new ideas, partnerships and initiatives to the city. The role 
As a Senior Central Operations Manager you’ll be an integral part of the team by leading the Central Operations Functional Area for the Glasgow Life Activities, and leading a team to scope, plan, and deliver the requirements for all Central Operations. Reporting to the Event Operations Lead and working alongside various functional area team managers. 
The candidate 
If you’re interested in joining us as a Senior Central Operations Manager you’ll need: 
• Qualifications that support the essential core skills, knowledge and competencies required for the post.
• Proven management experience leading multiple functions and areas of work in a major sport event environment.
• Employment experience of managing large/complex teams, and of the governance, operational, and delivery aspects of major events.
• Knowledge and understanding of the Event Industry Forum Purple Guide to Health, Safety and Welfare at Music and Other Events.

Some of our roles are currently piloting hybrid working, with teams working between the office and home. Your line manager will agree these days with you. This balance enables you to continue much-needed collaborative working. 

Our Albion Street office has great links to public transport and parking nearby.

This role is working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
