Job Description

*Glasgow City Council Active Schools team, in partnership with Sportscotland, currently wish to appoint Active Schools Co-ordinator(s).  This appointment is to support the current programme and develop new opportunities for primary, secondary and additional support for learning school pupils to participate in regular, frequent, safe and fun physical activity and sport.  The posts are 2 x Full Time until June 2022 and 1 x Part Time until June 2022.  You will be appointed under APT&C conditions to allow flexible deployment in relation to holidays and other out of school hour commitments. * Purpose of the Job:-
• The Active Schools network aims to increase activity levels of children and young people by ensuring there are more opportunities to participate in sport and more people delivering opportunities in schools and the wider community. 
Main Tasks
• Increase activity levels of children and young people by ensuring there are more and higher quality opportunities to participate in sport before, during lunchtime and after school.
• Build capacity through the recruitment, retention and development of a network of volunteers to deliver sport. 
• Motivate and inspire children and young people to participate in sport.
• Report directly to the Active Schools Manager in relation to Active Schools work.
• Work closely with school senior management team(s) and all relevant departments to ensure the aims and outcomes of Active Schools are delivered.
• Recruit and support coaches, leaders and volunteers and ensure ongoing training opportunities
• Source additional funding opportunities to further enhance Active Schools and monitor and allocate an operational budget to an agreed Active Schools Annual Action Plan.
• Coordinate and develop out of school hours opportunities for physical activity and sport in the school and in the wider community.
• Monitor and evaluate Active Schools activities and programmes through the established monitoring tools.
Qualification and job specific requirements:
Applicants must be educated to degree level or be GTS registered; clearly demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the aims of the Active Schools Network; have extensive experience of engaging with children and young people through sport and physical activity in education, sport, health, community, leisure and/or recreation industries; and have proven project management experience.
PVG Membership for Regulated Work with Children and  Protected Adults or willingness to obtain prior too a formal offer of employment being made.

Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme will be essential on taking up appointment. Please note successful candidates for the above position will be required to pay for their PVG Membership/or Scheme Checks.
