Job Description
An opportunity has arisen with Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability’s ASSIST and Domestic Abuse service for an Advocacy Worker (Children & Young Persons) to join our team on a fixed-term basis.
Posts within ASSIST are funded by Scottish Government and this post is currently funded until 31 March 2023. Ministers are presently minded to provide further funding covering 1 April 2023 – 31 March 2024 and 1 April 2024 – 31 March 2025; however, this is indicative only and will be confirmed once the Criminal Justice budget has been set for 2023-24 and 2024-25 financial years.
Position Details
ASSIST is an accredited Independent Domestic Abuse Advocacy service which works in close partnership with Police Scotland, COPFS and other statutory and voluntary partner agencies to support the delivery of a pro-active, rapid, and stream-lined response to those affected by domestic abuse, and who are interacting with the criminal justice system. ASSIST uses risk assessment and safety planning processes to ensure the client is at the centre of interventions.
The Advocacy Worker (C&YP) will provide advocacy and support services to the children of survivors of domestic abuse who are referred to ASSIST following a domestic incident. They will also provide a pro-active, short to medium term, needs-based service within a multi-agency framework to young victims of domestic abuse, focussing on those at most risk.
The successful candidate will work closely with statutory and voluntary services to deliver a pro-active, rapid and stream-lined response for those affected by domestic abuse; therefore, a commitment to partnership working and an understanding of the impact of Domestic Abuse on children, families and communities is essential.

The work pattern for the post is 4 days out of 5, Monday – Friday, to be agreed at the point of offer. The annual salary is on an incremental scale starting at £24,940.76 and progressing to £30,412.63 – please note, the salary offered will be higher on account of the agreed local government pay award. The updated figures will be confirmed at interview.
This post will be based at Eastgate, 727 London Road, Glasgow, G40 3AQ.
