Job Description

You will assist with all matters relating to Lighting Maintenance. Duties include the design, implementation and administration of lighting works and assisting in the management/development of the city’s lighting infrastructure. You will manage staff and resources in line with service targets/technical standards and support the financial management of the street lighting function in line with budgets. You will co-ordinate/collate lighting performance statistics, lighting condition data and assist with the management of staff which will include leading, developing and motivating the team. The post will also include the flexibility to cover other projects to transform Glasgow City Council street lighting. A Degree/HND/HNC or equivalent level qualification in Electrical Engineering OR an ONC/NC demonstrating a high level of technical competency together with all of the following; a City & Guilds SVQ Level 3 Approved Electrician after serving a recognised apprenticeship, a valid Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS) card, a City & Guilds 18th edition IET Wiring Regulations (BS7671) 2019 certificate and a valid Health and Safety Assessment certificate. You are required to have a working knowledge of technical standards and BS7671, supervisory skills, experience of delivering complex engineering projects, the ability to manage budgets and monitor performance against targets, good communication skills and a current driving licence. Experience of contract preparation and administration is essential as is the ability to use Microsoft Office and project management sofware. Presentation skills, experience in writing technical reports/feasibility studies and an understanding of CDM 2015 regulations is desirable.
