Working in Transport Planning, the Engineer/Officer role is part of a team which provides detailed responses on planning applications and the assessment and approval of road construction consent and section 56 applications. You will support both the planning and roads functions, have a strong grasp of current policy and design standards, including SUDS, and will be required to liaise with various stakeholders internally and externally. You will also provide support for other projects across the section’s varied portfolio of work. You will possess good interpersonal, communication and IT skills, be proficient in the use of project management software and have significant experience in the design and maintenance of various structures and roadworks assets. You will be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of Roads legislation, CDM regulations, current Transport planning policy and technical standards. An HND/ HNC or equivalent level qualification in Civil/Structural Engineering or a relevant Engineering discipline is essential as is previous experience in writing technical reports and the ability to monitor performance against targets. Knowledge of GIS and experience of managing and developing staff and a current driving licence is desirable.
