Job Description

Applicants are invited to apply for the post of Temporary Senior Social Care Worker (Day or Night - 12 hour shifts) in the residential setting for Older People / Physical Disability within our care homes.  
Temporary posts - we have various temporary full time posts citywide (Day or Night).  Successful applicants will be required to cover short term spells of absence, in line with service requirements.  Rotas within the establishments cover 7 days therefore candidates must be available as and when required to cover the full roster requirements.  Applicants will be expected to accept offers of temporary posts anywhere in the city to support demands of the service.
The role is to assist Senior Management in the task of promoting Glasgow City Council's policy on care for elderly people.  Applicants must have the ability to manage a range of cases and supervise others in maintaining and improving the well-being and security of service users and the community.  Knowledge and skills in promoting individual care and independence, particular to the needs of older people, is essential.   HNC in Social Care, SVQ Level lll (Health and Social Care) or equivalent is desirable.  Applications are welcome from ethnic minorities and fluent speakers of other languages, e.g.Cantonese, Hakka, Punjabi, Urdu.
This advert will be held open for a 3 month period from the closing date to allow the Recruitment process to be concluded.  Any vacancies which arise during this 3 month period on a citywide basis will be filled from this advert.

This post is temporary for a period up to 13 weeks, subject to review,

Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme will be essential on taking up appointment along with SSSC Registration. Please note successful candidates for the above position will be required to pay for their PVG Membership/or Scheme Checks.

As Scottish Social Services Council registration is a statutory requirement for this post under the Regulation of Care (Scotland) Act 2001, you must either be already registered or be registered within 6 months from the date you start in this post.  Your employment is subject to your continued registrations.
