GCC are seeking to recruit a temporary property solicitor within their Corporate and Property Law section. GCC are also recruiting for a permanent property solicitor under a separate application. Applicants must be qualified solicitors in Scotland and hold or be eligible to hold a Practising Certificate from the Law Society of Scotland. GCC's busy legal team work with colleagues and departments across all sections of the Council and its arms’ length companies, such as Glasgow Life, City Property (Glasgow) LLP and City Property Glasgow (Investments) LLP. Property transactions underpin many of the major high profile and infrastructure programmes across the city and GCC's corporate and property law team are have been key members of high profile projects teams which have delivered projects such the Commonwealth Games Village in Dalmarnock, the European Championships Glasgow 2018 , Transformational Regeneration Areas including Sighthill TRO, the new Robroyston train station, and the Equal Pay Loan Refinancing venture (largest deal by a local authority in the UK in 2019) to name a few. We continue to advise the Council on large City Deal projects such as the new Govan / Partick bridge, and other projects such as Community Asset Transfer, People Make Glasgow Communities and COP26 amongst many other interesting and important strategic projects for the City of Glasgow. We have a varied business as usual workload involving disposals, acquisitions, regeneration and development, CPOs, planning agreements, leasing, and other property related contracts and routinely advise senior officers of the Council on unique and interesting areas of property law. The successful candidate would work with a large supportive team which is currently piloting hybrid home and office working in line with government guidelines, enjoy generous holidays, access to flexi time and flexible working hours, and membership of the Local Government pension scheme. This is an opportunity to work in the largest local authority in Scotland, dealing with a wide variety of work, and be involved in projects which will shape the future of the City of Glasgow for and its citizens and visitors in the coming years.
